An accident involving a FedEx delivery truck occurred on April 7, at approximately 2:39 p.m. According to CHP, Anthony James Earle was driving a 2015 Ford EC3 eastbound on state Route 299, east of McKenney Drive, at about 60 mph as he approached a curve.

For reasons still under investigation, Earle made an unsafe turning movement, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The Ford struck a metal reflector post, continued a short distance, then hit a dirt embankment and a wooden power pole before coming to rest on its wheels facing southeast.

Earle, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash. He was taken to Surprise Valley Hospital as a precaution.

Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

According to Cedarville Volunteer Fire Department personnel, the struck power pole arced and started a small tree fire that was quickly contained and extinguished.
