Fatal Collision Due to Icy Roads on US 395

There has been a major collision on 395 just north of Hallelujah jct. and hwy 70 that has resulted in at least one fatality. Quincy CHP reports a semi truck and pickup truck have collided, both vehicles are now on the side yet there is debris in the roadway. You are asked to avoid the area, there are many emergency vehicles and personnel in the area. The hwy has remained open with one-way traffic control. Plan for travel delay.

In addition Hwy 395 from Susanville to the Nevada border continues to be no exception to the hazardous winter weather conditions. The highway was closed for over 12 hours during the thick of the recent snowfall. Multiple vehicles were abandoned on the side of the road from losing control and spinning into the side of the roadway. LC Sheriff Growdon shared they had to work with the Susanville community Church to set up a shelter for those who were stranded overnight. Following the re-opening drivers are continuing to lose control and are ending up on the side of the roadway in addition to the multiple rollovers. If you are planning travel along 395, slow down, do not attempt passing, and plan ahead for the extended travel time.
