In response to the lack of Ambulance services by the Chester Fire Department, an Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) subcommittee convened in early December as directed to do so by the Plumas County Board of Supervisors.

Comprising local healthcare, fire, and emergency services leaders, the subcommittee is dedicated to finding immediate and long-term solutions for Ambulance Services in the Lake Almanor Basin.

Chester Fire made the announcement that ambulance services would not be available at the start of the new year on December 19 to which the EMCC subcommittee devised a short-term plan.

Peninsula Fire Department will handle primary 911 calls and transfers, with Plumas District Hospital’s Indian Valley Ambulance covering the area during Peninsula’s commitments.

The EMCC subcommittee is optimistic about this interim solution, which will operate for approximately 6 months while long-term options are explored.

Discussions for a sustainable long-term solution are already underway, with various organizations collaborating to meet the community’s needs in the Lake Almanor Basin.

The EMCC subcommittee remains committed to working together to formulate a lasting solution during the short term.
