Fire In Alleghany, Western Sierra County
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a reported fire at the 16 to 1 Mine in Alleghany.
The Alleghany and Pike City Fire Department, along with the U.S. Forest Service have responded to the scene. At this time, the incident appears to involve an electrical fire in a building. Fire personnel are awaiting the arrival of PG&E to verify that power has been shut off before crews can safely continue operations.
Residents may see a large number of emergency vehicles and fire personnel staged in the area. This is a precautionary to ensure the safety of the community until PG&E confirms the electrical hazard has been mitigated.
