The Lassen County District Attorney announces the conviction of a Doyle man on Sexual abuse charges.
44-year-old Chauncey Castodio was found guilty in court after a jury trial for one count of sexual battery. The jury, however, acquitted him of the more serious charge of forcible penetration. This marks Castodio’s second conviction related to a sex-based offense, as he previously faced a conviction for statutory rape.
The trial process faced unusual circumstances that led to significant delays, and the DA’s office extended its gratitude to the jurors for their patience and commitment. The witnesses who came forward to testify, especially the victim, deserve special acknowledgment for their courage and cooperation in bringing this case to light.
The DA’s office says in the wake of this trial, staff will remain dedicated to supporting the victim’s journey toward recovery by providing essential services.
