The Lassen County Office of Education (LCOE) and Lassen Unified School District, recently celebrated seven individuals who earned their high school diplomas through the Diploma Gold Program, a unique initiative designed to provide a second chance for those who did not complete their high school requirements before turning 18.

On Thursday, October 10th, the Lassen High School Student Center was filled with pride as graduates Basirat Foluke Jimoh, Joshua De La Torre, Steven Friend, Jenna Fluke, Jayden Daniel Johnson, Kenyan Wesley Love-Rockey, and Xavior Jesus Ramirez were honored for their perseverance and achievement.

The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Zeane Barber, Director of the Diploma Gold Program. Lassen County Superintendent of Schools Patricia A. Gunderson delivered an inspiring keynote address, encouraging graduates to embrace the new opportunities their diplomas will provide. The evening concluded with remarks from Lassen Union High School District Superintendent Jacob Jensen, who motivated the graduates to continue pursuing their dreams.

The Diploma Gold Program, led by the LCOE, combines in-class instruction and online curriculum, offering flexibility for adult learners while maintaining essential in-person support from certified teachers. The program, free of charge, holds classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings, ensuring that those who missed out on graduating earlier can complete their education and move forward confidently.
