A Modoc correctional officer is arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with an inmate. The Sheriff’s department received reports from the relationship staff, and Sheriff Dowdy called in an outside agency to investigate. On September 10th, the Sheriff said, 34-year-old former correctional officer Melanie Martin was booked into the county jail for intimate relations with inmates at the jail, with a bail set for 20,000 dollars. Correctional officers are prohibited by law from engaging in such activity as a person under detainment does not have consent.
