The Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce will host a community meeting March 10 to discuss plans for a proposed town plaza project in Chester.

The meeting, part of the Recharge Our Community’s Economy initiative, is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the chamber office, located at 101 Meadowbrook Loop. Organizers say the meeting will focus on ideas for developing a town plaza or square as a multiuse gathering and event space.

Chamber organizers say the concept envisions a vibrant hub that could host community events while attracting visitors such as outdoor enthusiasts, recreational travelers and wedding parties.

Participants in earlier planning discussions identified several potential visitor groups and opportunities to develop programming and amenities that support tourism and community use. The project could also involve expanding and connecting nearby parcels, with Chester Park serving as a central anchor.

Organizers say potential funding sources for the project may include the California Strategic Growth Council and the Transformative Climate Communities Program, along with possible partnerships with nonprofit organizations.

The meeting is open to the public. Chamber officials say the effort is aimed at supporting local businesses while enhancing quality of life in the Lake Almanor basin.
