The Lassen National Forest has initiated the public comment period for the proposed Colby Mountain Recreation Project, a venture to enhance outdoor recreational opportunities in the area. The project’s central focus is the construction of 36 miles of new non-motorized singletrack trails, offering enthusiasts a diverse range of terrains, distances, and difficulty levels.

In addition to the trail expansion, the Colby Mountain Recreation Project encompasses comprehensive trailhead and infrastructure development, including the provision of much-needed restroom facilities. This project is anticipated to enrich visitors’ outdoor experiences and contribute to Jonesville’s economic resurgence and surrounding communities.

The project has garnered enthusiastic support from the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS), an organization committed to preserving and developing sustainable trail systems.
