Collins Pine Company will be closing their lands on June 2nd . The company owns land in both California and Oregon covering over 100,000 acres. Due to the devastating wildfires both the Collins Almanor Forest and Collins Lakeview Forest post fire salvage operations pose a threat to the public and as the company also said wildfire conditions continue to be at an extreme level prompting the closure. The public roads and the Pacific Crest Trail that run through the Collins forests will remain open. Collins President and CEO Eric Schooler said “we wish we had different news, but the reality is the lands need our stewardship and the public needs to be protected.” The closure will be in effect until further notice.
