CLEAR CREEK, CA – CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc Unit will be conducting a timber understory prescribed burn starting on Thursday, May 7, through May 8, 2026, west of the community of Clear Creek along Highway 147.
Smoke may be visible near the communities of Clear Creek, Westwood and the Almanor Basin, as well as along CA State Routes 36 and 147. Prescribed burn signs will be posted along roadways to inform the public. There is no need to call 911 to report these burn
operations.
CAL FIRE uses prescribed fire as an important tool to reduce hazardous fuels, improve ecosystem health, and enhance public safety. This project also supports broader fuel reduction goals in the area, aimed at reducing the impacts of potential future wildfires.
