Where once a sports complex was proposed in Susanville a decade ago will potentially be the site of a future community compost facility. Wednesday’s City Council meeting will ask the council to accept funds through a community development block grant awarded to the Local Area Revitalization Project Co-Op for 50,000 dollars. These funds would initiate an environmental review process for the city’s Sierra Road complex facility. In 2012, the city completed an environmental document for the Sierra Sports Complex, and some parts of the completed document may still be valid. The city will need to hire an environmental regulations expert, at the cost of roughly 30,000 dollars, to review the existing record and identify what components are still valid and what additional work may be needed.
The remaining 20,000 dollars will go to a walk-in freezer for Crossroads ministries.
The city council meets this Wednesday at 5:00 in City Hall.
