City Council Holds Public Hearing on EV Charging Stations

The city council in Susanville is set to allow the placement of electric vehicle charging stations throughout the city. As mandated by state law the city must comply by adding the rule into the city’s code before January 1st.

The new rule as required would allow businesses interested in adding charging stations to have an expedited, streamlined permitting process. The city would maintain the right to determine if the stations would be a nuisance when applied for.

Lassen Municipal remains the sole business that aims to add a charging station at their new facility on Main street with a goal to learn more about their effectiveness and ability to attract visitors to the area who could shop locally while charging.

The city council will hold a discussion during a public hearing on Wednesday to add the new ordinance. You can attend City Hall starting at 5 pm.
