The discussion on the use of ARPA funds continues at the Susanville City Council meeting this week.

The Council discussed the allocation of the nearly $3.5 million in federal COVID relief funds twice, once on December 20 and again on January 17, of which one million has already been spent, leaving the city to deliberate over the remaining 2.5 million.

The discussions involved ranking criteria and a list of projects. The council directed staff to report on the city’s debt pay-off amount, including potential interest savings and a plan to enhance the code enforcement program. These reports will be presented at the upcoming meeting.
The Council has also set a February 7, 2024, deadline for ARPA fund requests from the community and may consider directing staff to prepare an expenditure plan based on the discussed criteria.

The Council meets this Wednesday at 5 pm in City Hall.
