City Council approves a motion presented in yesterday’s meeting to purchase a new Emergency Response Vehicle for the Susanville Fire Department. The vehicle is a Type 6 Engine-Skeeter Brush Pick-up Truck. The Fire Chief recommends the addition of the vehicle to increase response times and availability of their larger engines for fire use. In a response to the pandemic the CDC has required all fleet vehicles responding to covid related calls to be disinfected thoroughly. A typical engine has a cab space of near 20 sq ft, and includes all firefighting apparatus and equipment which must also be cleaned before next use. This process takes precious response time and availability away from the community. Disinfecting the Type 6 truck will be more efficient and save time as well as money on the long term. The truck is being purchased through the Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus Relief Grant.
