The Susanville California Highway Patrol recently carried out an arrest involving a Big Rig driver on charges of driving under the influence (DUI). An officer from the CHP’s commercial unit observed an over-length tractor trailer passing through the area, destined to deliver over 40,000 lbs of dog food to Oregon. Detecting the violation, the officer initiated a traffic stop and promptly identified the driver as displaying potential signs of impairment.

In order to ascertain the driver’s sobriety, another officer was called to the scene to conduct a series of sobriety tests. These tests concluded that the driver, identified as 33-year-old Justin Rodriguez from Sparks, NV, was operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs. Consequently, Rodriguez was taken into custody.

Upon conducting a thorough inspection of the large commercial vehicle, law enforcement officials uncovered an illegally concealed weapon, ammunition, and high-capacity magazines. These findings were outlined in the subsequent booking reports.

Although Rodriguez was apprehended, he has since been released from custody, presumably on bail or other relevant legal grounds.
