If you’re headed out of town through Chester on the fourth, plan on an early morning closure and detour through town. The Susanville CHP office reminds you that hwy 36 will be closed from 8:45 to 9:45 for the Fun Run and closed from 10:45 to 1 pm for the parade. If traveling through at these times, there will be a detour at Airport Way and Melissa Ave.
If you attend the 4th of July celebrations in Chester, you are asked not to set up chairs before the events to avoid blocking crosswalks and sidewalks.
The CHP will also have max enforcement during the run and parade, encouraging all to enjoy the holiday responsibly by not drinking and driving. DUI enforcement will be in full effect.
