The Lassen County Board of Supervisors and the community gathered to honor the service of Lassen County Administrative Officer Richard Egan at his final supervisors meeting on Tuesday, December 17. District 1 Senator Brian Dahle presented a proclamation from the state to Richard Egan, who retired after over 30 years with Lassen County. Aaron Albaugh, chair of the board of supervisors, read a proclamation detailing Egan’s career, which began in May 1994 as a developmental specialist for the Planning and Community Development Department. Egan advanced to budget analyst in 1997 and was elected as the county’s treasurer/tax collector in 1998, being re-elected in 2002, 2006, and 2010. Appointed as CAO by the board in 2014, Egan expressed gratitude to his supporters, particularly the people of Lassen County, his team, and the boards he worked with. He humorously remarked on the challenges of working with a board, expressing it was a privilege and an honor to serve.
Egan also took a moment to thank his wife, Holly, for her unwavering support, recounting how she repaired his sport coat on the morning of his last board meeting. District 2 Supervisor Gary Bridges praised Egan, noting the admiration he receives from other county officials. District 1 Supervisor Chris Gallagher and District 3 Supervisor Tom Neely commended Egan’s professionalism and dedication. Former board members such as Brian Dahle, Jim Chapman, and Jack Hanson attended the meeting. Jim Chapman reflected on knowing Egan’s parents and expressed how proud they would be of his accomplishments. Planning and Building Department Director Maury Anderson humorously acknowledged Egan’s leadership and the stability he brought to the county, wishing him well in retirement.
