The days of forgetting to carry your hunting license on you are behind you as the CDFW launches a convenient alternative through a new mobile app.
Sportsmen and women can now upload the CDFW’s License App, which allows you to carry your California sport fishing licenses and validations on your mobile phone and other mobile devices in lieu of a physical license.
The app’s rollout aligns with CDFW’s Recruit, Retain, Reactivate (R3) initiative, which aims to remove barriers to hunting and fishing. The mobile app is slated for release mid-year.This initiative builds on the success of the CDFW License App, which already offers fishing licenses and was introduced following Assembly Bill (AB) 817, spearheaded by Assemblymember Jim Wood, passing in 2021, enabling the issuance of a 365-day fishing license and facilitating digital licensing display.
The CDFW’s latest License App aims to streamline the licensing processes, promote responsible practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance experiences for everyone across urban and remote areas. Wildlife officers anticipate that the app will facilitate easier license checks.
You can find more information and tutorials on the app’s functionalities on the CDFW’s License App web page.
