Caltrans continues its efforts to reopen State Route 70, which has been closed for several weeks due to recent rockslides and adverse weather conditions. Contractors have successfully completed rock scaling operations near the Butte/Plumas County Line, and debris removal is ongoing. Emergency work between Twain and the Greenville Wye is nearing completion, paving operations are imminent, and assessments continue near Cresta.
Emergency work led by Caltrans and Hat Creek Construction east of the Greenville Wye has prompted 24-hour one-way traffic control, which could cause delays of up to 10 minutes.
Despite concerns about recent seismic activity, the Caltrans geotechnical team confirms it did not exacerbate the rockslides.
The removal of approximately 1500 yards of debris is underway, with an estimated completion time of four weeks.
