Burn permits for Sierra County are suspended. CalFire Nevada Yuba Placer Unit has placed the ban due to increasing fire danger as temperatures rise and the state sees lower reservoir levels and an early snowpack melt. The ban is effective as of yesterday. You are no longer permitted to burn your leaves and branches. This comes following an early Friday morning fire that began at a residence and burned into the area’s vegetation and prompted evacuations and closed a portion of HWY 49 into the weekend. The fire was contained at 20 acres by Sunday.
