After several years of collaboration, CALFIRE has released a proposed updated fire severity zone map. Today, January 10th the agency will hold its Lassen County public hearing to hear from the community on the proposed updated Fire Hazard Severity Zones map. The map is a comprehensive map that ranks the state’s rural unincorporated areas based on the likelihood these locations will experience wildfire. These changes could impact your zone as it makes the map match today’s current lands and climate conditions. The last update was over a decade ago, in 2007.

Your input is the first step in a two-month-long process before final adoption. Commenting will end on February 3rd. You can begin interacting with the map on the Calfire website by entering your address and exploring your area.
