CAL FIRE Rescues Hiker in Medical Emergency on Black Butte Mountain

July 22nd, CAL FIRE, along with the Mount Shasta Fire Department and Mt. Shasta Ambulance, conducted a rescue operation on Black Butte Mountain in Siskiyou County. A hiker experienced a medical emergency while navigating the difficult terrain on the mountain’s southern slope. CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit Copter 615 successfully hoisted the patient to ground resources, where they received treatment and were subsequently transported to the nearest hospital. Appreciation is extended to the crews for their expertise and teamwork. Hikers are reminded to be well-prepared: share your plans, wear bright clothing, stay vigilant, and stick to marked trails for safety.
