On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc Unit personnel responded to the Ranch Fire, a reported vegetation fire in Ranch Park off of the Paul Bunyan Logging Road.
While responding, resources observed a suspicious individual fleeing the area of the fire. A CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officer immediately responded and, while en route, located Susanville Fire Department personnel with the individual. The subject was detained, and an investigation was conducted.
As a result, the individual was arrested for:
- Penal Code 451(c): Arson of a structure or forest land
- Penal Code 3455: Violation of Post Release Community Supervision
The subject (Nikki Renee Owens) was booked into the Lassen County Jail according to Lassen County booking report.
Cal Fire would like to thank the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, Susanville Fire Department, and all responding personnel for their assistance in suppressing the fire and supporting the investigation.
