CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Crews Prepare for Fire Season

Last week, our seasonal firefighters from the CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc Unit gathered at Devil’s Garden Fire Center for their annual re-hire academy—and it was a full week of preparation, teamwork, and skill-building.

From completing essential training and paperwork to inspecting gear and sharpening critical skills, these crews put in the work to be ready for the season ahead. They reviewed ladder operations, practiced interior structure firefighting, improved hose lays, and timed their safety gear deployments. The week also included CPR and medical refreshers, aircraft safety, and fire shelter deployment training.

Firefighters also had the opportunity to connect with chief officers, discussing the core values that guide the Lassen Modoc Unit and gaining insight into the plan for the upcoming fire season.

This academy is just one of the many ways our Lassen Modoc Unit stays prepared, professional, and ready to respond. Fire season, we’re ready.
