Beginning Saturday, Jan. 24, the CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit will assist the Adin Community Services District with a 2-acre prescribed burn near the Lassen-Modoc county line in the Adin area.

The burn is part of a multi-year project designed to support long-term land management and reduce wildfire risk. The operation will take place only under favorable weather and fuel conditions to ensure a controlled, low-intensity burn.

Smoke may be visible throughout the Big Valley area. Residents are asked not to report smoke to 911 unless there is an actual emergency.

Project objectives include improving wildlife habitat, reducing noxious weeds, managing excess vegetation along Ash Valley Road, Highway 299 and Highway 139, and minimizing the risk of wildfire ignition and spread to nearby communities and rangelands.

CAL FIRE and the Adin Community Services District thanked the public for its cooperation as crews work to enhance fire safety and promote ecological health throughout the region.
