CAL FIRE and Adin CSD Begin Prescribed Burn

Adin- Starting on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit will bе assisting the Adin Community Services District (CSD) in conducting a 2-acre prescribed burn near the Lassen/Modoc County line in the Adin area. This is the continuation of a multi-year project in partnership with Adin CSD, focused on treating designated areas to meet long-term land management objectives. The burn will
be conducted only when weather and fuel conditions are favorable, ensuring a controlled, low-intensity prescribed fire. Smoke may be visible throughout the Big Valley area. Residents are reminded not to report smoke to 911 unless there is an actual emergency.
Project Objectives:
Improve wildlife habitat
Reduce the presence of noxious weeds
Manage and reduce excess vegetation along Ash Valley Road, Highway 299, and
Highway 139
Minimize the risk of wildfire ignition and spread to nearby communities and
ranchlands
