On 2/2/2026 the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary that occurred at the construction site of the new Seneca Hospital building in Chester, California. Upon arrival, the responding Deputy learned over $50,000.00 worth of tools and equipment had been stolen. It was also reported that the suspects had stolen a U-Haul truck and trailer from the nearby U-Haul business in Chester. The Plumas County Investigations Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. After reviewing several hours of surveillance videos from surrounding businesses and conducting numerous interviews, three suspects were identified. The suspects were determined to be from the Sacramento area. The Investigations Unit continued their investigation by conducting searches and interviews in Sacramento, leading to several items of evidence being recovered. The case was referred to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for review, which resulted in arrest warrants being issued for the three suspects for 459 PC- Burglary and 487 PC- Grand Theft. At the time of this release, one suspect has been apprehended.
The investigation is ongoing and further details and suspect information will be provided pending the arrest of the remaining suspects.
