Janesville Grade/Thompson Peak – Cal Fire in coordination with the USFS Plumas National Forest, and Lassen Fire Safe Council will be conducting a 400 acre pile burning project approximate 2.5 miles southeast of Thompson Peak Lookout withing the Dixie Fire footprint. Operations will begin Monday, March 31 and continue through the month of April. Pile burning operation will be ongoing as weather and fuels are favorable to achieve desired fuel reduction objective.
Smoke from the project may be visible to the public, there is no need to report.
The purpose of the project is to reduce dead and downed fuels in the Dixie Fire burn scar as well as help reduce the possibility of wildfire burning into the residential area of Janesville.
