In the latest update from the Nevada County sheriff’s office, the body discovered outside of Truckee on I-80 in March remains unidentifiable.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation continues to be active despite the lack of producing an identity for the remains. The body was discovered on March 27th near Farad Rd. along the Truckee River. The Sheriff’s office says “Preliminary findings at this stage of the testing are minimal. The remains are believed to be a female Caucasian adult, estimated to be between 30-70 years of age, with a height estimate of 5’1” to 5’6”, short to medium length brown hair, unknown weight, and unknown eye color.”

Testing has also determined her death was within the last year. A possible tattoo located on her left lower rear torso may help in producing leads to her identification; however, the tattoo is not clearly identifiable. Investigators hope that additional DNA analysis results can further narrow in on the woman’s description.
