The National Blue Star Mothers organization is encouraging Californians to contact the state’s U.S. senators in support of federal legislation that would designate February 1 as National Blue Star Mothers Recognition Day.
According to the organization, Senate Bill 4789 has passed the U.S. House of Representatives and is now awaiting consideration in the Senate. If approved, the measure would establish an annual national day recognizing Blue Star Mothers—mothers of service members serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The proposed observance is intended to honor military families, with a particular focus on mothers whose children are currently serving in the nation’s military.
The organization is asking supporters to contact California Sens. Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla and encourage them to vote in favor of the legislation.
Blue Star Mothers of America is a nonprofit organization that supports active-duty service members, veterans, and military families through volunteer service, care packages, and community outreach.
