If you’re already dreaming of warmer weather and nights under the stars next year, the Bureau of Land Management is looking for Camp Hosts throughout the region.
Openings for volunteer camp hosts have become available at five sites, two locally, at Hobo Camp Day Use Area along the Bizz Johnson Trail and North Eagle Lake Campground, including the Rocky Point camping area.
Other opportunities to enjoy the camp life next summer are in Trinity County. Campground hosts are needed for the Douglas City, Junction City, and Steel Bridge campgrounds all along the Trinity River.
Benefits include living on-site with provided RV and trailer hookups and a small stipend to help with living expenses.
Hosts are expected to greet visitors, provide information, and complete light maintenance. The camping season runs from mid-April through mid-November or slightly later, depending on the weather.
Those interested in the Hobo Camp and North Eagle Lake positions should contact Stan Bales at the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, 530-257-0456. Information on the Trinity River sites is available from the Redding Field Office.
