A Bird causes the PG&E outage in Indian Valley last evening. The good news, is the company’s enhanced power safety settings are working, the bad is the outage left 1300 without power during the heat of the day from 4 pm to 6 pm. The bird hit the line along North Valley road. Through high fire-threat areas when an object impacts a line, part of the company’s wildfire mitigation plan for this year established the shut-off program where lines will automatically shut off within seconds if an object contacts them to prevent a spark that could lead to a wildfire. The program has seen an 80% success rate.
