**SCAM ALERT – GOLDEN 1 MEMBERS**

Heads-up Lassen County, got hit today with a smishing/vishing attempt targeting Golden 1 Credit Union members.

How it went down:

1️⃣ Text from (802) 578-0030 claiming a $538.72 Target purchase in Atlanta, GA was declined. It asked me to reply “YES” or “NO.”

2️⃣ I replied “NO” and called the number — generic voicemail, no mention of Golden 1.

3️⃣ Minutes later, I got three calls from (916) 204-2649. When I called back, a guy pretended to be a Golden 1 rep. He already knew my name and that I had a Golden 1 account, then asked for my last two checking transactions (classic scam move).

4️⃣ I told him I knew it was a scam and hung up.

What to know:

• Golden 1 will never call/text/email asking for account details, passwords, one-time passcodes, or recent transactions.

• If you get a call like this, hang up and call the number on the back of your card.

• Report scam attempts to [email protected] and forward the text to 7726 (SPAM).

Please share so no one — especially our seniors — gets preyed upon.
