Beware of Nevada DMV Text Scam Threatening Traffic Penalties

SHARE NOW
The Nevada DMV IS NOT sending text messages regarding traffic tickets or penalties.
A fraudulent message claiming to be a “Final Notice” includes a suspicious link and falsely threatens:
– Vehicle registration suspension
– Revoked driving privileges
– Credit score damage
Red Flags to Watch For:
– Unsolicited texts/calls from a government entity
– Message sent from an international number
– Uses a suspicious web address (like: “.cc” “.icu”) instead of an official .gov address
– No personal details such as name, ticket number, or vehicle info
– Urgent and threatening language
What to Do:
– Do not click the link. It may be a phishing attempt.
– Verify any claims directly with the Nevada DMV: https://dmv.nv.gov
– Report the message to your carrier and to the FTC: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov
