Atmospheric River Brings Much-Needed Snow- 24-hr Totals Top Over a Foot

The impactful atmospheric river that has brought many southern California counties into a state of emergency has also bolstered the state’s snowpack, bringing in feet of snow to the Sierras.

Even locally, Susanville saw some locations receive over a foot of snow in the last 24 hours, according to the National Weather Services snowfall analysis. Chester saw anywhere from a foot to two feet of snow in the outskirts of town, while Greenville received up to a foot of snow, and Quincy saw just under a foot.

Winter storm warnings are in place through 10 am today.

In light of the weather, all Plumas Unified Schools will be closed, taking a snow day.

Shaffer Elementary will be on a two-hour delay as well as Westwood Unified Schools, and Long Valley Charter.

All Susanville School District schools, Johnstonville, and Richmond schools are on time.
