Alturas CHP, A high-speed chase ended with the arrest of an Alturas woman Wednesday afternoon after she allegedly fled from law enforcement through multiple Modoc County communities.
At about 1:20 p.m. Jan. 14, a California Highway Patrol officer observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street in Alturas at approximately 65 mph, according to authorities. Multiple vehicles and pedestrians were present in the area at the time.
The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for excessive speed, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit that continued south on U.S. Highway 395.
The pursuit continued through Likely and ended on U.S. 395 just north of Madeline. The driver and sole occupant, identified as Lacy Marie Chacon, 44, of Alturas, was taken into custody.
Authorities said Chacon resisted arrest and sustained minor injuries during the incident. Emergency medical services responded to the scene, where she was treated and transported to Modoc Medical Center.
According to the CHP report, Chacon was later booked into Modoc County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, felony resisting an officer, and misdemeanor driving under the influence.
