Alturas Police Respond to a Womans’ Frantic call

The Alturas Police responded to a frantic call from a woman saying an unidentified male is in her home. On Friday, June 16 the Alturas Police Department responded to an incoming call from a female stating a male was seen in her home at the 1700 block of East Street while she was away. When the Alturas Police arrived on the scene, they found the home unoccupied. The reporting party did state that she believed the male subject was her neighbor Correctional Officer Gary L. Smith. Officers found Smith at his residence and arrested Smith for unauthorized entry, disorderly conduct, and violation of court order. Smith was released from custody on Saturday and his employment with the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office.
