AI: Revolutionizing Medical Information and Patient Experience

Artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mark Reis explains some uses of the technology in his experience with the tech; “if you give it very specific prompt like act as if you’re blank, it doesn’t have to be orthopedic surgeon, act as if you’re any kind of professional, and the answer comes out in less than three seconds, and it’s about a one-page summary.

“I gave it to them (the patients) to read before I came in. I reviewed it first the first time I looked at it, and it was as absolutely as good as an answer as I could have given them as a doctor.”

Reis goes on to explain that patients can even use an app that can accompany them into the doctor’s office, where it will listen and pick up keywords from your doctor’s visit and produce a one-page transcription summary highlighting and defining medical terms.

Although many fear the technology or harbor hesitation, Dr. Reis says nothing is better or can replace the human element when it comes to medical care. So for now, you can continue to count on your doctor being at your visits.
