On April 2, 2022, at 19:41 hours, the Susanville Fire Department responded to a reported fully involved structure fire located near the entrance of 1625 Riverside Drive. Upon arrival, the first due Engine company reported a fully involved structure with heavy smoke and flames coming from all openings threatening nearby houses. Defensive fire attack efforts were performed using hand lines surrounding the structure, and Truck 1 aerial master stream. The fire was extinguished, contained to the structure of origin, and 100% mop up was performed. The structure is known to be used by transients.
Susanville Fire Department was assisted by the following agencies: Susanville Police Department (SPD), Lassen County Sherriff Department (LCSO), CalFire, Susan River Fire District, and CDCR CCC Fire Department.
Total equipment committed to the incident was 2 Chief Officers, 1 Truck, 4 Engines, 2 SPD, and 2 LCSO units totaling 21 personnel.
The fire is human caused and originated in the basement level of the structure.
