A New Sheriff Deputy is Welcomed in Plumas

After months of witnessing a dwindling department, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office announced Depty Chandler Dale has joined the team.

Sheriff Todd Johns, for months, pleaded with the Board of Supervisors to place urgency in negotiations with the deputy bargaining unit to increase wages in what he often called the lowest-paid sheriff’s department in the state.

That finally paid off in October when the board approved a 20 percent raise for Sheriff employees.

Deputy Dale completed his field training just last month; he also recently graduated from the 151st Law Enforcement Academy at Butte College in June and holds a bachelor’s degree in Crop Science from Chico State. He spent his time working on a walnut farm while also serving as a volunteer firefighter.
