As more students return to the classroom today in Lassen county the Susanville Police Department has started a campaign on Back-to-School Safety tips for parents. The department reminds you that when taking your first day of school photos to be mindful of protecting your personal information. It is wise to avoid taking photos that reveal your home address or vehicle’s license plate number, the name of your child’s school name or mascot, and their teacher’s name. The department also reminds you to be aware of the school zones and slow down. Be alter for children darting from in between vehicles and help by dropping your kid off in the designated drop-off zones at your school. Be mindful of buses as well. It is the law that when the bus stops you and the opposing traffic are to stop until the bus driver releases the stop sign from the bus side and turns their red lights off. Have a safe and fun first day back to class.
