New changes are coming for Lassen County’s district 3 and 5 following the board of supervisors meeting. The clerk recorder’s office has been approved to move forward with creating the state documents moving closer to final adoption of the newly proposed district map. The Clerks recorder’s office advised the board to choose map three for the final adoption. The map three does move two voter precincts from the Janesville area from its current district three, supervised by Jeff Hemphill and put it into district 5, supervised by Tom Hammond. Yet both Hemphill and Hammond, being the only two supervisors affected in the new boundaries, both oppose the change. Saying it does not make sense since District 5’s demographics are heavy in the Milford/Herlong area. The remaining supervisors, clerk recorder, and the public in attendance felt map 3 was the most simple and efficient change. In a 3-2 vote map three was motioned to be brought back for final adoption at the supervisors December 14th meeting.
