CDFW Focus on Rural Illegal Marijuana Grows, Seizing Over $100M in One Quarter

The Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce seized over $100 million worth of illegal cannabis in the 3rd quarter of the year. The taskforce also seized 69 firearms, a more than 300% increase compared to the prior three months.

The Chief of the Law Enforcement Division for the DCC said, “Many of these illegal cannabis operations are linked to organized crime, and in addition to threatening the environment and communities, the products these operations pose a direct threat to consumer health and the stability of the legal cannabis market.”

Nearly 100,000 plants were removed in the operations, along with over 61,000 lbs of illegal cannabis.

CDFW’s Acting Chief of Enforcement added that these operations were focused mainly in rural areas and aimed to disrupt the illegal supply chain and improve public safety.
