The Park Fire remains a fluid landscape as evacuations are downgraded, then brought back, and new ones are created as the 6th largest wildfire in CA history rages to over 370,000 acres.
CALFIRE’s latest update Monday evening shows that containment has increased to 14%.
As of Monday evening, with increased fire activity on the fire’s southeast flank, another Plumas county zone has been under evacuation warning. This latest zone, 001, includes North of Forest Road 29N18, Forest Road 28N61, South of Chester Warner Valley Rd, East of Forest Road 29N18, West of Warner Creek Drive, section Old Red Bluff Road, Chester Warner Valley Road.
Plumas zone 040 has been and remains under evac warnings.
The Lassen National Forest says Monday’s clear skies and direct sun resulted in the intensity of the fire in the Antelope Creek and Mill Creek drainage areas. Fire crews have been actively constructing lines to minimize fire spread.
A forest closure order is in place where the fire is most active.
Calfire says fire activity was minimized in the northern portion of the fire due to smoke cover. The southern portion of the fire had clearer skies, allowing for the finer fuels, such as grass, to be more receptive to fire with a longer burn window.
The Lassen Volcanic Park has also implemented a full closure. All campgrounds within the park have been cleared of campers and closed to the public.
