In a tragic update: Plumas Sheriff’s announce the missing Clio woman has been found deceased. 78-year-old Elmerena Waelder’s body was recovered on Wednesday evening with the help of Plumas County Search and Rescue and the assistance of a concerned neighbor.
In previous updates, the search for Ms. Waelder began Monday and continued throughout the week, yet despite their determined search, Ms. Waelder could not be found.
In an attempt to bolster search efforts, a request for air support was made. Regrettably, due to adverse weather conditions and other priority calls, the aircraft could not fly.
Elmerena Waelderwas reported missing after a family member returned home to find her gone from their residence on C Rd in Clio. Suspected she left on foot around 10 pm on Monday.
Given her behavioral health condition, Ms. Waelder was considered an at-risk missing adult.
The SO says, at this time, further details surrounding the circumstances of Ms. Waelder’s passing are not available. The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office will continue its investigation to determine the cause of her death, and updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Search efforts are continuing for a third day for the missing Cl-eye-o woman, 78-year-old Elmerena Waelder.
The Plumas Sheriff’s office called in air support yesterday to aid in the search. Yet weather and priority calls did not allow them to join the efforts.
She went missing on Monday around 10 pm from her home on C road in Clio. She is considered at risk as she is known to suffer from behavioral health issues.
Anyone with information is asked to report it to the sheriff’s office.

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for 78-year-old Elmerena Waelder after a family member returned to their home on C Road and discovered she was not there.
The sheriff’s office says they believe she walked away from her home around 10 pm on February 19th. She is known to be suffering from a behavioral health condition and is considered an at-risk adult.
Elmerena is described as a white female with short, greying hair and hazel eyes, standing 5’5″ tall, weighing 210lbs. A description of what she was wearing at her disappearance is unknown.
