If you have any qualms about Main street through Chester now is your chance to weigh in. Today from 5:30 to 7 pm the first of two community workshops will be held so you can share what you think HWY 36, also serving as Main street, should look like, how traffic should flow, propose lane changes, or suggest additional amenities such as ADA-compliant walkways. The Plumas County transportation commission With Caltrans’ Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program the Plan aims to transform Main Street into a Complete Street with safer and more comfortable transportation options, adding sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks, and other street design elements. You can view the current plans on the Chester Main Street Project Website. The project is currently in the data collection and public commenting period and will move into Recommendations Development & Analysis to establish the preferred set of solutions for the Plan next. You can attend this evening’s workshop at the Lake Almanor Rec Center starting at 5:30.
