Plumas county offices join others throughout the county to recognize Juneteenth Holiday. All federal government offices, federal courts, banks, post offices, schools, and the U.S. financial markets will be closed, and now after unanimous approval from the board of supervisors the extension of the holiday goes to all county staff and offices will be closed today. Only Plumas county courts will remain open with a full case load as the State of California does not yet observe the holiday The day is recognized on the 19th of June for the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. This will be the second year Juneteenth is recognized as a federal holiday.
