For operating two evacuation centers and one local assistance center during the Beckwourth fire, now a year later, Cal OES is reimbursing Lassen county. Nearly 8,000 dollars has been given back to the county for a portion of the 10,000 dollars incurred. The reimbursement represents 75 percent of the costs eligible under the California disaster assistance act from Governor Gavin Newsom’s state of an emergency proclamation on Aug 6th of last year. The costs to Lassen county came from the 27 employees who ran the two evacuation centers at Jensen Hall at the fairgrounds and Lassen Community college through the month of July, as well as the local assistance center in Doyle, and motel accommodations for an evacuee.
