Nine tickets were issued during a Susanville Police Department traffic enforcement operation targeting bicycle safety. A grant-funded the operation through the CA office of traffic safety and national highway traffic safety administration officers focused on dangerous driving behaviors including speeding, illegal turns, failure to yield to bicyclists or pedestrians, and running red lights or stop signs. Within the City of Susanville, there are several crosswalks that intersect Main street that have no alert for drivers when being used making being aware of people crossing the road ever more important, additionally, there are no designated bike lanes along Main street and bicyclists must share the road with vehicles. The police department urges you whether on a bike or in a vehicle to be patient keep three feet of space when passing and adhere to the rules of the road.
